History

27 Sep 1940, Berlin (Germany), by Germany, Italy and Japan, together as H-XM7310 - Triple Alliance (The Axis) - the Axis Powers - in a military pact, essentially agreeing on the redivision of the world by the signatory countries and as a military alliance against the United States. Also referred to as Berlin pact, it covered mutual recognition of the New Order in Europe and Greater East Asia and of respective positions of leadership for a period of 10 years. With the outbreak of war between Germany and the USSR, Jun 1941, the Pact essentially divided the world into 2 camps - the Axis Powers and the Allied Powers. During its period of validity was signed by various governments under German control: Hungary, 20 Nov 1940; Romania, 23 Nov 1940; Slovakia, 24 Nov 1940; Bulgaria, 1 Mar 1941. Yugoslavia joined on 25 Mar 1941, but the government was overthrown within days and the new government did not ratify the act of joining. Also signing at subsequent dates were: Finland; Spain; Thailand; puppet government of Croatia; puppet government of Manchukuo; Wang Ching-wei government in China.
