Established 13 Feb 1969, Geneva (Switzerland), at a conference convened by the Swiss government, with the dual aim of providing a secure source of funds for a generic programme which, in the first instance, includes the EMBO Fellowships, Courses, Workshops and administration, and to provide a framework to establish F-XF7254 - European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL). Registered in accordance with Swiss Civil Code, 7 May 1970.
Ensure cooperation between European states for basic research in molecular biology and allied fields, through the medium of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO).
