History
Founded 23 Mar 1594, on approval of a rule based on the Carmelite reform leading to the establishment of the R-XR1678 - Order of Discalced Brothers of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel (Discalced Carmelite Fathers), with which this is associated as a Catholic lay order of men and women. Subsequent rules, unique to the discalced third order, were drawn up in: 1742, 1875, 1921 and 1970. The original third order, created prior to the separation of the discalced branch, had been created by John Soreth and approved in 1452. Linked to R-XR3913 - Lay Carmelite Order Calced. Former name: Third Order Secular of Our Blessed Lady of Mount Carmel and St Teresa of Jesus.
