17 Apr 1973, Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire), by virtue of Article 34 of the Treaty of Abidjan which created West African Economic Community (CEAO) (Treaty entered into force 1 Jan 1974). Also referred to as Community Development Fund -- Fonds communautaire de développement (FCD).
Provide compensation for certain trade losses and finance economic development projects (resources are reserved in priority for the industrially less developed countries and for projects of Community interest).Available with paid subscription only.
Two thirds of the fund is appropriated for compensatory payments in respect of goods falling under regional cooperation tax. The remainder finances national and Community development projects, notably (at the national level) rural development - agriculture, livestock rearing, fisheries and forestry - which accounts for 88.3%; while industry takes 8.1% and training 3.3%.
