Founded 15 Jun 1975, Brussels (Belgium), at second Congress, the first Congress having been held 1972, Barcelona (Spain). Registered in accordance with Belgian law.
Unite friends of museums in order to facilitate exchange of ideas and experiences in conservation of cultural heritage; promote establishment and development of national federations and associations of friends of museums and support initiatives towards enrichment of museums; foster highest ethical standards among friends and volunteers of museums using the precepts of the WFFM Code of Ethics; encourage ties between museum professional and volunteers, young people and the general public; generate public and government awareness of museums worldwide.
