Hospitallers of the Order of the Holy Ghost
Montpellier (France). Approved, 1198, by Pope Innocent III. Cared for the poor and the sick, with hospices in France and subsequently Belgium, Italy, Spain, Poland, Hungary, Denmark, Norway and Sweden, at one time numbering nearly 1,000 hospices. As well as the Hospitallers there were sisters of the order who cared for foundling children. No longer exists.Available with paid subscription only.
