The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

Apr 1997, by merger of International Society of Internet Professionals (ISIP) and Internet Developers Association (IDA). Absorbed the Webmasters Guild, 1997, and International Interactive Communications Society (IICS), Dec 2000.

Aims

Promote responsible commercial use of the Internet by professionals; function as a formal international resource to meet needs of the professional Internet developer and provide information, education and interpretation; maintain awareness of the current state of Internet and development plans that will impact it; be proactive in assisting development of new services and products; further growth of Internet infrastructure; guide and support creation and adoption of standards for Internet business development.
