1 May 1958, within the framework of D-XD2984 - Nordic Council (NC), on coming into force of T-XT5718 - Nordic Passport Convention, signed 12 Jul 1957, Copenhagen (Denmark), by governments of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Union among Denmark, Norway and Sweden had existed since 1954. Iceland adhered later. Amendments to Convention by agreement of 27 July; Supplemented by agreements of 2 Apr 1973; 18 Sep 2000. More an idea than an organization.
