The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


1957, Freiburg-Breisgau (Germany FR), as a committee of Coordinating Committee on Veterinary Anatomical Nomenclature (CCVAN). Recast, Aug 1971, Mexico City (Mexico), as one of the nomenclature committees of World Association of Veterinary Anatomists (WAVA). Subsequently enlarged to become the present group of scientists involved in avian anatomical research but still a committee of CCVAN within the overall framework of WAVA. Dormant between editions of 'Handbook on Avian Anatomy'. No activities reported since 2010.


Formulate and promote a standardized terminology for the anatomical parts of birds.

International meetings at irregular intervals, sometimes in conjunction with International Anatomical Congress and World Veterinary Congress. Regular work sessions with WAVA recommence when a new edition of Handbook is required.
