The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1946, Geneva (Switzerland), as Centre d'études industrielles (CEI) of Alcan Aluminium Ltd. Became, 1956, a non-profit foundation in accordance with Swiss law, fully autonomous but linked to University of Geneva. 'IMI-Geneva' since 1982. Merged, Sep 1989, with Management Development Institute (IMEDE), set up 1957, Lausanne (Switzerland), to form International Institute for Management Development (IMD).

Aims

Provide general management education and undertake research in all areas of international management; focus on education of senior executives working in an international environment.

Activities

Provides education with the following key elements: process of management - from vision to results; areas of concern to managers - environment, business sector, company; learning system - process and concerns related to realities of day-to-day management. Organizes: general and integrated management programmes (10) including a post-experience MBA; functional management seminars in technology, finance and marketing; external seminars; research activities. Teaching and research supported by Business Associate companies, including many major multinationals. Instrumental in setting up: International Management Institute, Kiev (IMI-Kiev); International Association of Department Stores (IADS).
