History
Jan 1958, Washington DC (USA), pursuant to T-XT5701 - Interim Convention on Conservation of North Pacific Fur Seals, signed 9 Feb 1957, Washington DC. Convention came into force 14 Oct 1957; amended by Protocol, signed 8 Oct 1963, Washington DC, entered into force 10 Apr 1964, which extended the term of Interim Convention for a further 6 years and effected several changes with respect to scientific research programmes to be carried out by Party Governments. Interim Convention, as amended, continued in force for a further 6 years by an exchange of notes among Party Governments, effective from 3 Sep 1969. Further protocols amending and extending period of Interim Convention by 4 years: signed 7 May 1976, Washington DC, entered into force 12 Oct 1976; signed 14 Oct 1980, Washington DC, entered into force Jul 1981; signed Oct 1984, but never ratified. The Commission has not met since 1985 and was disbanded in Feb 1988.
