History

1977. From 1984, referred to as Center for Studies on the Holocaust. Subsequently referred to as Joseph H and Belle R Braun Center for Holocaust Studies. In 1990, became International Center for Holocaust Studies, within Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith (ADL). Also referred to as Braun Holocaust Institute.

Aims

Explore the enduring impact of the Holocaust and apply its lessons to contemporary issues of prejudice and moral decision making; ensure that the Holocaust is never forgotten.

Activities

Offers 'Echoes and Reflections' - a multimedia curriculum on the Holocaust created for high schools. Youth Leadership Mission to the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC (USA); The Bearing Witness Program - targets Catholic school educators to explore the history of anti-Semitism, from biblical times to modern day. Confers 'Courage to Care Award' on Christians and Muslims who saved Jews during the Holocaust. Hidden Child Foundation (HCF) brings together survivors who were hidden as children from the Nazis.
