Jul 1970, Singapore (Singapore), as Regional Institute of Higher Education and Development – Institut régional pour l'enseignement supérieur et le développement. On 15 Feb 1993, became a Regional Centre of D-XD3257 - Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO); commenced interim operations in this context in mid-1994. Preparation for Interim Period: 1 Jul 1993 - 30 Jun 1994; Interim Period: 1 Jul 1994 - 30 Jun 1997; Development Plan follows regular 5-year cycle of SEAMEO. Hosted by the Royal Government of Thailand.
Assist member countries of Southeast Asia in fostering efficiency and effectiveness of higher education with a focus on policy and planning processes, administrative and managing systems; serve as a regional centre and clearing house for higher education information within and outside the region; promote collaboration for the establishment of institutional linkages leading to achieve the goal of regional harmonization of higher education.
