The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


3 Dec 1970, Bamako (Mali), following recommendations of an inter-disciplinary mission of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), organized at the request of the then 'River Niger Commission', currently, since 21 Nov 1980, Niger Basin Authority (NBA). Also referred to in English as Authority for the Integrated Development of the Liptako-Gourma Region (ALGR). Statutes registered in 'UNTS 1/20352'.


Promote regional development and use of mineral, energy, water, agricultural, grazing and fishery resources within the Liptako-Gourma area.

Carries out economic projects and studies; seeks funds to finance projects; coordinates all national economic development programmes relating to the area. Research Departments (3): Development of Hydrogeological, Hydraulic, Mineral and Energy Resources; Transport and Telecommunications; Development of Agricultural, Grazing and Piscicultural Resources. Short term and long term projects include: efforts to combat desert encroachment; rural water supply programme; improvement of road and rail infrastructure; health action at village level.
