Founded 1991, Changchun (China), at a conference on Northeast Asian economic cooperation. Formalized, 1991, Tianjin (China), at a second conference. The idea for cooperation to generate dynamic new economies throughout the region first began to gain momentum with the 1988 Niigata Conference on the Sea of Japan. Despite initial progress, obstacles remained and subsequently NEAEF was created.
Provide an institutional framework for economic research, discussion, and technology exchange in Northeast Asia; serve as a networking agency to facilitate economic interaction and cooperation among concerned people and institutions in the region; promote intra-regional and inter-regional dialogue.Available with paid subscription only.
