Originally established as a temporary institute, scheduled to close 1999, extended until 2004, but became permanent in 2002, with F-XF2266 - International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Austrian authorities as primary members. Contributing members include: F-XF2441 - European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD); F-XF0670 - European Investment Bank (EIB); Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD); F-XF1393 - International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD); B-XF2527 - World Trade Organization (WTO); E-XE2442 - European Commission (EC) (Observer Status).
Provide policy-oriented training, primarily for public sector officials, in order to strengthen economic policies and institutions in Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia and other selected countries.
