The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

29 Mar 1993, with the support of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Haut conseil de La Francophonie (HCF) and the Académie nationale de médecine française. Activities ceased in 2008.

Aims

Advise UNESCO on the contents and scope of projects, their location, teams for setting them up, training of engineers to carry them out, manner of execution, follow-up on quality of operations, programme evaluation during and after operation and evaluation of consequences on population health and on the environment. At UNESCO's request, carry out transdisciplinary and transnational pilot studies with a view to harmonious technological expansion in the 21st century for francophone member countries and their partners, with respect for the culture and health of the population and harmony with the environment.

Activities

Plans and executes surveys, studies and research, educational programmes, inter- and transdisciplinary projects, evaluation and follow-up programmes. Pilot Committee creates and follows up the activities of special, transdisciplinary and technical committees, advisory councils, technical missions and an informatics network among members. Organizes annual colloquium at UNESCO and other meetings. Currently developing Musée des langues du monde, with Musée des langues du monde et des cultures méditerranéennes as the first operational regional sub-set.
