History
Nov 1919, Assisi (Italy), by Armida Barelli and Agostino Gemelli, as an association of single consecrated lay women, under the name of Family of Franciscan Tertiaries for Promoting the Social Reign of the Sacred Heart. Called the Pious Association of Missionaries of the Kingship of Christ from 1928 to 1958. Approved as a secular institute of pontifical rite in 1953. Also known as Women Missionaries of the Kingship of Christ. Separate branches for men and for priests also exist.
