1981, jointly by the States of Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, members of D-XD9187 - Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Started operations on 19 Feb 1986. GIC became shareholder in Dec 1987. The Government of Saudi Arabia transferred its shares to Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) in Sep 1987, and the Government of Kuwait also transferred its shares to Kuwait Industrial Bank in Dec 1987.
