History
Established at 1st Ministerial Conference, as an intergovernmental organization. Charter signed 7 Feb 1968, Singapore (Singapore), and ratified by all 7 founding member countries by Jan 1969.
Aims
Enhance regional understanding, cooperation and unity of purpose among Member Countries for a better quality of life through the establishment of networks and partnerships, the provision of fora among policy makers and experts, and the promotion of sustainable human resource development.

SEAMEO Council, comprising Ministers of Education of all member countries, is the policy-making body; SEAMEO Secretariat. Directorship rotates every 4 years among member states.
