Structure agreed May 1980, Banjul (Gambia). Agreement adopted 26-27 Nov 1980, Freetown; revised 6-8 Jul 1987, Freetown.


Enhance cooperation among commercial and merchant banks in the West African sub-region for the purpose of fostering trade liberalization; render more functional the West African Clearing House; provide and exchange information on banking practices in the sub-region; serve as a forum for discussion of common problems; seek ways of contributing to development of commerce, industry and agriculture in the region.
