Jul 1926, Copenhagen (Denmark), at 3rd International Conference on Land Value Taxation and Free Trade. Constitution confirmed Aug 1955, St Andrews (UK); amended: Aug 1979, San Francisco CA (USA). 1997, adopted subtitle The International Georgist Union. Previously referred to as Union internationale pour la taxation des biens fonciers et le libre-échange -- Unión Internacional para la Imposición de los Bienes Raices y el Comercio Libre -- Internationale Union für Grundstückbesteuerung und Freihandel.

Aims

Stimulate in all countries a public opinion favourable to permanent peace and prosperity for all people, through the progressive removal of the basic economic causes of poverty and war, as these causes are demonstrated in the writings of Henry George (1839-1897); specifically towards the realization of these objects, favour the raising of public revenues by public collection of the rental value of land apart from improvements and the abolition of taxes, tariffs, or imposts of every sort that interfere with the free production and exchange of wealth.
