The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


Jan 1992, under the auspices of European Commission (EC) - DGXIII, as a grouping of the type European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG). Also referred to as European Community Telework / Telematics Forum.


Become a leading European think tank on telework and its implications for economic growth, competitivity, and employment generation and for improving the quality of life in general in the emerging new information society, including in Eastern and Central European countries; act as the framework across European Union member states for concertation on telework and related telematics applications; promote teleworking and exchange and dissemination of information among telework projects and interested organizations.

Implements global concertation and dissemination activities through ECTF coordinators covering EC and EFTA countries, the USA, Japan and Singapore (Singapore); organizes seminars, workshops and conferences; provides training and other resource information on implementing telework programmes; promotes establishment of regional/national telework platforms, EC-wide thematic focus groups and telework demonstration centres, the latter as show cases and test beds for existing and prospective advanced multimedia communications.
