Founded

History

Set up by E-XE0669 - European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). Continues the work of U-XE0664 - Consultative Committee of the European Coal and Steel Community, not limited to the coal and steel sectors but encompasses all aspects relating to industrial change. Previously also known under the English acronym CCIC.

Aims

With a special emphasis on anticipation, pre-emption and analysis, ensure positive common approaches to the management of industrial change from an economic, social, territorial and environmental point of view; promote coordination and coherence of Community action in relation to the main industrial changes in the context of the enlarged EU; ensure balance between the need for socially acceptable change and the retention of a competitive edge for EU industry.
