Mar 1953, Oberammergau (Germany FR), following establishment of the first NATO courses in the Special Weapons Branch of the US Army Intelligence and Military Police School. Comes within the framework of C-XC3005 - NATO, under E-XE5515 - Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE). Special Weapons Branch became the NATO Weapons Systems Department and was placed under operational control of the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe (SACEUR) of E-XE2231 - Allied Command Operations (ACO), 1966. Became NATO Weapons Systems School, 1973, and NATO School (SHAPE), 1975.
Conduct education and training in support of current and developing NATO strategy, policy, doctrine and procedures.
