The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History
29 May 1987, Paris (France). Has also been referred to as Université française du Pacifique sud. Ceased to exist, 31 May 1999, under government decree 99-445, when replaced by 2 national universities: Université de la Polynésie française (UPF), Papeete (Polynesia Fr) and Université de la Nouvelle-Calédonie, Nouméa (New Caledonia).
Aims
Ensure a scientific, cultural and professional higher education public service for school-leavers trained in the (French) Oversees Territories; contribute to the furtherance of the French language, science and culture in this Anglophone region, comprising the countries of the South Pacific, but also of South-East Asia and the Americas; prepare and assist in the admission to university of the pupils from other countries of the Pacific region where the local structure lack these facilities.

UPF is composed of: (i) Presidency (and General Secretariat), Papeete, Tahiti; (ii) Centre universitaire de Nouvelle-Calédonie (CUNC), Nouméa, New Caledonia; (iii) Centre universitaire de Polynésie française (CUPF), Faaa-Aéroport, Tahiti; (iv) University Library, Papeete, Tahiti. UPF is administered by Management Council, comprising 22 members. A Council Centre, consisting of 21 members, assists each of the Centre Directors. Each Centre is made up of 4 Departments. Scientific and Cultural Council; Councils of the University.
