1957, New York NY (USA), as Inter-American Press Association Technical Center (IAPA Technical Center) -- Centro Técnico de la Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa -- Centro Técnico da Sociedade Interamericana de Imprensa, within the framework of D-XD1094 - Inter American Press Association (IAPA). New name adopted 1997.

Aims

Protect freedom of the press; foster and protect general and specific interests of daily and periodical press in the Americas; promote and maintain dignity, rights and responsibilities of journalism; encourage uniform standards of professional and business conduct; exchange ideas and information contributing to cultural, material and technical development of the press; foster a wider knowledge and greater interchange among the peoples of the Americas in support of the basic principles of a free society and individual liberty.
