The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

Collect and disseminate information about forestry related activities of NGOs; act as a liaison between said NGOs and UN system; facilitate coordination and regional exchange between NGOs.

Collects information on: NGO activities related to forestry on four continents; information on pertinent international initiatives undertaken by governments, UN agencies and donors; information on specific research initiatives or joint projects, such as women and forestry, evaluation components of forestry, etc. Direct correspondence service provides individual responses to NGOs and other agencies seeking information on related topics. Consultations, meetings and information sessions for NGOs. Enhances cooperation between NGOs by: consultations which bring NGOs together to identify common objectives and national/regional strategies; support of regional information centres and collaboration with national coordinating NGOs; referral system for NGOs which matches organizations with the appropriate resources or specific information required.
