History

1967, Bossey (Switzerland), during 1st Congress, as International Centre of Information for Telephonic Help -- Centre international d'information des secours par téléphone. Previously referred to in English as International Federation of Telephonic Emergency Services (IFOTES). Legal seat in Geneva (Switzerland) since 1967.

Aims

Coordinate and disseminate information concerning telephonic help services; support efforts to create telephone emergency services centres and national associations worldwide; promote exchange of experience among national members; organize international congresses and seminars on emotional health and emotional health support.

General Assembly (every 3 years, at International Congress) elects President and appoints International Committee (IC). IC (meeting twice a year) comprises President and one appointed representative of each full member federation and includes Executive Committee, consisting of 2 Vice-Presidents, Treasurer and one member. Director attends IC and Executive Committee ex officio. Standing Working Committee, comprising President, Director and Secretariat, based in Switzerland.
