The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

1987, Vancouver (Canada), as a commission of International Association of Geodesy (IAG). Merged with International Gravity Commission (IGC) to form International Gravity and Geoid Commission (IGGC).

Activities

Data collection; coordination of computational efforts (merging of geoids); execution of geoid determinations through computer centres financed nationally or by international organizations; execution of computational tasks of regional character; evaluation and exchange of tested software; organization of vertical positioning campaigns for geoid control; organization of contacts to oceanographers in need of geoid data; organization of expert meetings. Working arm: International Geoid Service (IGS), set up 1 Sep 1992, Italy. Maintains the Subcommission for the Geoid in Europe, South America, East Asia.
