1974, as a regional fisheries training institute for the Caribbean by B-XB0971 - FAO and the Governments of Barbados, Guyana and Trinidad-Tobago. Since 1983, operated within the framework of U-XF0595 - Caribbean Technical Cooperation Network in Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture and E-XE9569 - FAO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (FAO/RLC).
Provide maritime and fisheries training in accordance with IMO's STCW Convention and Code for Seafarers and STCW-F for fishing vessel personnel.
