Established by S-XS1017 - Conference of Speakers of the European Union Parliaments. Re-structured and new statutes adopted Oct 1995, Strasbourg (France); statutes approved by the Secretaries General at the Conference of Speakers of European Assemblies, Jun 1996, Budapest (Hungary), and amended by the Secretaries General at the Conference of Presidents of Parliaments, 31 May 2006, Tallinn (Estonia).

Aims

Promote exchange of information, ideas, experience and good practice among administrations of parliaments in Europe; strengthen close cooperation among parliamentary services; collect, exchange and publicize studies produced by parliamentary services.

Responds to Secretaries General on the occasion of Conference of Speakers of European Assemblies - Conférence des présidents des assemblées parlementaires européennes, including Presidents of European Parliament and of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Conference of Correspondents (annual) comprises senior officials in the parliamentary assemblies. Executive Committee (meeting at least twice a year), comprises 2 Co-Directors plus 5 Correspondents appointed by the Conference of Correspondents. Coordinators for the Areas of Interests (4). Secretary General of F-XF0667 - European Parliament (EP) and Secretary General of F-XE8849 - Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) each appoint a Co-Director and a Co-Secretary. Secretariat, based at European Parliament, Brussels (Belgium).
