1999-02 Teheran Iran Islamic Rep


Feb 1999, Teheran (Iran Islamic Rep), by the Government of Iran Islamic Rep, following recommendations of President Khatami, 21 Sep 1998, that the United Nations should designate 2001 as the "Year of Dialogue among Civilizations". Succeeded by G-XJ8043 - International Institute for Dialogue among Cultures and Civilizations (IIDACC).


Promote the concept of a global structure based on mutual understanding and tolerance. To this end: promote dialogue among civilizations and cultures on an international scale as a means of advancing the interpretation of the UN Charter and of improving human well-being; promote and expand the culture of dialogue at national level; promote the culture of peace so as to foster peaceful coexistence and prevent human rights violations; help establish and broaden international civil society through cultural interaction among nations; strengthen spiritual, moral and religious culture; conduct research on the significance and possible interpretations of Dialogue Among Civilizations and release the findings nationally and internationally.
