1960, Latakia (Syrian AR), as an institute of League of Arab States (LAS). Also referred to as: Arab Institute of Forestry; Arab Institute for Forestry and Pastures; Forests General Institute. Set up in cooperation with Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Since 1979, attached to Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD).
