History
6 Jun 1610, Annecy (France), by Saint François de Sales and Saint Jeanne-Françoise de Chantal, as a contemplative order, subsequently becoming a strictly cloistered order. Approved in 1626. A non-cloistered congregation, R-XR0409 - Soeurs de Notre-Dame de la Visitation (Notre Dame de la Visitation), created in 1669, is based in Ghent (Belgium). While each remaining autonomous, the 190 monasteries of the Order have been grouped in 19 federations since 1952. Currently there is no central office.
