25 Sep 1973, Brussels (Belgium), by Decision (73/306/EEC) of the E-XE2442 - European Commission (EC), modified in 1976 and 1980. Replaced U-XU0415 - Consumers' Contact Committee in the Common Market, set up 2 Apr 1962 and dissolved 14 Feb 1972. The CCC ceased to exist in 1989 and was replaced, 1990, by U-XE2087 - Conseil consultatif des consommateurs de la Commission des communautés européennes (CCC/CCE), itself replaced, 1995, by U-XE3239 - Consumers' Committee (CC).
Represent consumer interests before the Commission of the European Community; advise on policies to inform and protect consumers (acting either on its own initiative or at the Commission's request).
