Serves as the regulatory organ of CIMA through a body of Control Officers. Commission (meeting at least twice a year) is appointed by the Council for 3-year renewable term and comprises members with and without a deciding vote. Members with deciding vote: a jurisconsult having experience in insurance matters; a person having a high-level of responsibility in the insurance sector and experience in the African insurance market; a person with experience with problems of insurance controls in Africa within the framework of technical assistance provided by non-member states or international organizations; 6 representatives of national insurance directorates; Director General of CICA-RE; a qualified person in the financial field selected on agreement between BEAC and BCEAO. Members without deciding vote: President of FANAF; Secretary General of CIMA; Director General of IIA; representative of minister in charge of insurance of member states. Council appoints President of the Commission from among designated members.
