History
Jun 1999, Guatemala (Guatemala), within the framework of D-XD3030 - OAS, at regular session of OAS General Assembly. Set up following adoption of an anti-terrorism action plan by OAS member countries at 1st Inter-American Specialized Conference on Terrorism, 1996, Lima (Peru), and creation of the Committee framework at follow-up conference, Nov 1998, Mar del Plata (Argentina). First meeting: Oct 1999.
Aims
Allow the region's governments to: share expertise and information on the activities of individuals, groups and movements linked to international terrorism; cooperate in tracking their methods of operation and sources of financing; to develop anti-terrorism training programs.
