The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


1973, as the technical support unit specializing in communication, documental information and training of Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA). Ceased to exist when replaced by specialist service.


Support IICA's operating units and its Country Offices through specific projects carried out by its five specialized technical Divisions.

Specialized Technical Divisions: 'Training': Human resource skills in the agricultural sector are upgraded through seminars, courses, technical assistance and scholarships, especially in matters relevant to agricultural modernization. 'Communications': Supports IICA's Programs and Country Offices in the production of audiovisual materials and provides training in communications theory and in production techniques for mass and group communications. 'Documentary Information': Generates, stores and disseminates bibliographic materials and supports acquisition, generation and efficient use of documentary data bases and specialized information networks. 'Editorial Service': Provides IICA's operating units with specialized technical assistance in the editing if their publications and in making proper use of the Institute's graphic line. 'Print Shop': As the final step in producing printed material, provides lithographic services such as design, layout, typesetting, graphic arts and photomechanics. Prints posters, brochures, folders, books and most of the printed matter generated at IICA Headquarters.
