1962, as Regional Secretariat of Catholic Education for Africa and Madagascar (SRAM) under the Doctrinal and Pastoral Commission of D-XD3948 - Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM). Current name adopted 1998.
Increase cooperation and communication between the national secretariats of Catholic education and represent them at the international organizations, particularly interafrican organizations.
