Founded 21 Oct 1956, Paris (France), at 5th 'Concours international du meilleur enregistrement sonore (CIMES)', following proposals made at 1st international competition, 1952. Statutes adopted Oct 1957, Brussels (Belgium); revised: 1958, Bern (Switzerland); 1961, Berlin West (Germany FR). Registered in accordance with Swiss Civil Code. Ceased to exist before 2018.
Encourage and develop cultural, technical and artistic aspects of sound and video recording; promote contacts between existing national organizations and the establishment of new ones; defend sound recording interests vis-à-vis public authorities, the radio industry and copyright institutions; promote and facilitate sound and video recordings and cultural exchanges among members.
