Gather, disseminate and exchange information and encourage research in the field of draught animal power in Latin America; encourage use of animal power in farming and non-farming production systems; support reform of the agricultural development model through ecological agriculture in which animal traction would play a decisive role; promote policy and activity based on respect for local/regional cultural traditions; formulate recommendations to include the concept of improved animal traction in rural development policy and strategy.
