History

25 Aug 1957, Paris (France), as European Federation of Paper Bag Manufacturers -- Fédération européenne des fabricants de sacs en papiers et d'emballages similaires; commenced activities 1958. Since 1975, registered in accordance with Swiss law. Name changed, 1976, to European Forum for Flexible Packaging -- Forum européen des emballages souples. Articles of Association redrafted 1991. Also referred to as European Flexible Packaging Federation; European Association for the Flexible Packaging Industry. From 2001 to Dec 2005, the SME Division of, and in 2005 merged with E-XD8148 - Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE).

Aims

Encourage contact and exchange of ideas and experience among producers of flexible packaging - paper, plastic film and aluminium foil; represent their interests in countries of the European Union and with European associations in related sectors; study and implement means for promoting use of flexible packaging products; search for solutions to technical, legislative and administrative problems associated with production, utilization, recycling and disposal of packaging; further development of new packaging to meet economic and ecological demands of the market and the political world.
