1995, by E-XE2919 - EastWest Institute (EWI). Previously referred to as Fund for the Development of the Carpathian Euroregion and Foundation for the Carpathian Euroregion. Registered in accordance with Slovakian law, as an independent foundation in 2000. Re-registered as Carpathian Foundation (CF) in accordance with Hungarian law in 2005.
Strengthen local democracy and the development of civil societies by promoting local action with local responsibility and accountability; enhance the capacity of non-profit and local government organizations to address community and regional needs; promote cross-border and inter-ethnic cooperation, sharing of information and the replication of successful practices; encourage citizen participation in local and regional development; promote cooperation between non-governmental organizations, local governments, and businesses.
