The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


1991, Brussels (Belgium). Registered in accordance with Belgian law. Merged with European Energy-from-Waste Coalition (EEWC) and European Recovery and Recycling Association (ERRA) to form Association for the Sustainable Use and Recovery of Resources in Europe (ASSURRE).


Promote reclamation of organic waste materials from source separated municipal solid waste, sewage sludge and other sources; promote the use of good quality composts; support any other activities consistent with this objective.

Provides a vehicle for industry to exchange information and shape opinions across borders and across disciplines. Promotes the concept of the collection and recovery of all organic waste and the production of high quality humus. Strive to establish universal standards of performance for producers of compostable items, compost equipment vendors, waste management companies and compost producers. Informs members on composting standards and how they can be met, on suitable machinery and the current experience with it, on how to exploit the evolving markets for compost and soil ameliorants. Annual Congresses, always in Brussels (Belgium); European Congresses on Biological Treatment (every 3 years); specific workshops between Congresses.
