24-25 Sep 1982, Bangui (Central African Rep), when constitution was adopted, as a branch of B-XB1766 - International Council on Archives (ICA). Also referred to as Central African Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives. Suspended 2000, reintegrated 2004.
Protect the archivistic heritage of Central Africa; contribute to development of archives in the region and to research and study; maintain links between archives of the region and the international profession represented by ICA.

General Assembly (every 3 years), comprising members' representatives (2 per country, at least one of whom represents the national archives institute and the other the national association, if one exists).
