The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

History

6 June 1947, The Hague (Netherlands), by a Diplomatic Agreement which entered into force 10 June 1949; also referred to as International Patents Bureau -- Bureau international des brevets. Ceased to exist, 1 Jan 1978, when incorporated into European Patent Office (EPO), set up 5 Oct 1973, Munich (Germany FR), in virtue of a Convention which entered into force 7 Oct 1977; the staff committee 'Syndicat du personnel de l'Institut international des brevets (SPIIB)', which represented staff of the IIB, has likewise been superseded by Staff Union of the European Patent Office (SUEPO).
