Established 1947, Rome (Italy), as a commission of the B-XB0971 - FAO (Article VI-1 of FAO Constitution), in pursuance of a recommendation of a FAO Conference, 1947, Marianské Lazne (Czechoslovakia). First session Jul 1948. Rules of procedure revised 1961 and 1977. Also referred to as FAO European Forestry Commission.
Advise on formulation of forestry policy; review and coordinate its implementation at a regional level; exchange information and, generally through special subsidiary bodies, advise on suitable practices and action in regard to technical and economic problems.
