The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).


May 1999, as UITP General Commission on Transport Management, as an international commission of International Association of Public Transport (UITP). Previously also referred to as International Commission on Transport Management and UITP Commission on Transport Management. Ceased to exist 2009, on merger with UITP Commission on Human Resources, to form UITP Commission on Business and Human Resources Management.


Provide a platform for discussion of horizontal and general issues of transport company management; emphasize to UITP members that organization, service management, human resources, information technology and marketing are becoming the key elements of a modern management of public transport company, in addition to traditional fleet operation.

Issues: 'Quality Management' - at institutional level includes authority-operator contracts, quality indicators and incentive vs penalties clauses; at organizational level includes provision of standardized service (certification); at human level includes service oriented behaviour of staff; at commercial level includes customer satisfaction. 'Integration of Services and Network' - intermodality and physical integration; operational integration (timetables); fare integration; integrated travel information. 'Security and Safety' - security and safety of staff; security and safety of passenger; security of interchanges and stops; technical and human means for safety and security; prevention and repression. 'Finances and Management' - management tools and methods (accounting); financial management (investments, loans, leasing, company savings); sub-contracting policy.
