The UIA is a leading provider of information about international non-profit organizations. The aim of the Open Yearbook is to promote the activities of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and intergovernmental organizations (IGOs).

1992
History
1992, as a standing conference by Conference of Ministers of E-XE4174 - United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), reporting to U-XS0166 - Conference of African Ministers Responsible for Economic and Social Development and Planning through the 'Technical Preparatory Committee of the Whole'. Resulted from an upgrade of U-XE2741 - Intergovernmental Committee of Experts on Science and Technology Development (IGCESTD), which had been set up in 1973. Ceased to exist in 1997.
Aims
Assist ECA in the definition and periodic review of strategies and programmes in the area of science and technology for the development of the African region.

Meets every 2 years. Working Groups (sub-divided by sub-regions) and specialized Working Groups examine and make recommendations on science and technology development, basic needs and industry.
